State:	In March of this year I travelled from Vermont to Oaxaca City to undergo some extensive dental work with Dr Angel Gomez. I had received a glowing testimonial about him and his work from a friend and after reading countless other positive reviews and communicating numerous times with him by phone and email, I decided to take a leap of faith and commit to the trip. The work that I needed was extensive: seven root canals and caps on the upper teeth, a completely satisfactory temporary bridge on the bottom (that I will have in place until I return next year to complete the work on my bottom teeth) and a custom made mouth guard to use while sleeping. I was in Oaxaca for only ten days and, though there was a little uncertainty at the beginning as to whether all the work could be completed in that short time, Dr Gomez rose incredibly to the challenge and basically did a month’s worth of work in just over a week. He and his colleague – the extraordinary Dra Maria Santiago, who has the gentle hands and disposition of an angel – worked tirelessly for hours with dedication, focus and good humour to get the job done. Their office (and their on-site lab) is perfectly centrally located in the historic district of the city, a short walk from the main square. It’s clean, organized, well equipped and well maintained with calming jazz playing in the background. In short, I cannot recommend Dr Gomez and Dra Santiago more highly. They are extremely skilled and competent and work with the highest dedication and integrity. And as Dr Gomez received his training in the US, his English is flawless which, to me, is essential in this kind of situation. Finally, the overall cost of the work I had done was a third of what I would have paid in the US. Because the overall experience was so positive, I will be returning next winter to have my bottom teeth finished, staying for a full month to give Dr Gomez more time to do the remaining work and me more time to explore and enjoy this wonderful city in what has now become my favourite part of Mexico. My situation presented a difficult, if not impossible, feat to accomplish. I had a molar that was giving me a lot of pain. The most logical solution was to perform a root canal; however, in the x-rays there was no evidence of any canals whatsoever. They were completely calcified. The next most likely option would have been to extract the tooth, graft bone to an already receded bone, and implant a tooth in its place. Because this involves surgery and a lengthy process with possible complications, Dr. Gómez recommended that we attempt a root canal first. Dra. María Santiago, the endodontist in Oaxaca Dental, began the root canal. With skill, patience, persistence, and a steady hand Dra. Santiago miraculously identified the three root passages, and four appointments later, after 9.5 hours in the dental chair, succeeded in restoring and expanding the root passages for healing of the tooth. State: Delawere	My husband and I traveled by RV to Mexico in early 2020. By March, we were in a RV park in Oaxaca. I noticed that a problem I had six years ago reoccurred: gum tissue above an upper tooth receded markedly, exposing too much of the crown. A condition, if left untreated, can seriously undermine the tooth. I did some online research and found the website for Dr. Gomez, which included several testimonials by other patients. I contacted his office, and he gave me an appointment for the very next day, a Friday. When I was previously treated, a dental surgeon had pulled down the tissue and stitched it in place. Dr. Gomez explained why that was not an option. He proposed a graft from my palate to the gum above the tooth. He agreed to do the surgery, and to do it on Monday morning! Dr. Gomez not only treated me more quickly than I ever would have been in the US, he also did so with a level of care and concern that was extraordinary. My treatment happened to coincide with the beginning of the COVID-19 shutdown protocol in Oaxaca. Nevertheless, Dr Gomez provided all necessary aftercare, taking every precaution available to ensure both his safety and mine. I have now returned to the US, and visited my local dentist for a routine checkup. He was very impressed by the gingival graft I received from Dr. Gomez. He crafted a night guard for me that is not porous like the one I had made in PDX. The one from Portland was a material that you warm up under hot water which tasted terrible after several hours. The night guard is clean and fits perfectly. All my dental work had been affordable, being less than half of prices in the USA. I am sure Dr. Gomez and his staff provide better dental work than any dentist in Oregon.

We were coming to Oaxaca to study Spanish for a month and our US dentist suggested she look for a competent dentist here to complete her work on two implants (which needed crowns). She found Dr. Gomez and after corresponding with him, got the crowns made and put in over several weeks. She’s been quite happy with them over this last year. This summer, it was my turn. A large metal inlay in a molar fell out just before we arrived in Oaxaca. I went to Dr. Gomez who assessed the tooth—options were either to pull it or try to save it with a root canal and a crown over a post. He brought in a root canal specialist who was excellent, all went well with that portion of the work. He then installed a post after prepping the tooth, gave me a temporary crown and put in the permanent porcelain crown a few days later. He works patiently and with great skill, has his own lab so all work can get done quickly. We saved a great deal of money over US prices with the same quality of care and workmanship. I also enjoyed his personality and choice of music—the jazz classics! I would definitely recommend him for any kind of dental work that is needed. Given my limited Spanish, his perfect command of English was very helpful. He began the evaluation after I had a panoramic x-ray done. I am a mature woman and had numerous dental problems. First and foremost, were my upper and lower bridge work which had deteriorated over a period of 30 years. These problems had a trickle down effect. I had ground down the surfaces of most of my teeth as a result of the bridge problems. I agreed to have all the dental problems corrected. Dr. Gomez, who was trained in the U.S., worked on our son over the course of two visits to Oaxaca. His work is highly professional and we are thrilled with the results. The cost is much less than in the U.S. while the quality of his work is equal to our experiences in the U.S. We strongly recommend him to others who are in need of dental services.
